Local 120 held its first Solar Training Course on January 27th and 28th. Nineteen members were given classroom and hands-on instruction by Peter Olders from IBEW CCO.

Our members were enthusiastic and took in a great deal of information over the two days. We plan to offer this course again in March for any members that are interested!

WOODSTOCK -- A detailed history of what life was like at Woodstock General Hospital in 1954 and 1961 was brought to light with the opening of two recently uncovered time capsules.

Copies of the Daily Sentinel- Review, along with detailed lists of employees and doctors, information about the nurse's alumni fundraising efforts, financial and operating statements, the Constitution of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and even handwritten notes from those who sealed up the copper box, were found in a time capsule that dates back the 1954 during the construction of a new wing of the hospital and renovations to the old building.

We were all very happy to learn that IBEW 120, 4th term apprentice Mitch Robertson, won gold medal in the Ontario Technological Skills Competition this year.

The competition, that run last 17 and 19 of May in Waterloo, was won by our representative. He will be now competing on the Nationals this week - Canadian Skills Competition - May 20-23 and from there, depending on the outcome, he'd go onto the World Competition which is in London England. Way to go. We will all cheer for you Mitch.
